First Electric Cooperative Improves Quality of Life by Bringing Electricity to Rural Communities in Arkansas
In 1937, our mission to “improve quality of life” drove the initiative to be the first electric cooperative in Arkansas to bring reliable and affordable power to rural communities. That mission still drives First Electric as we continue to bring services to our members.
In today’s world, digital connectivity is becoming just as critical as electrical power was in the 1940s and 1950s. Communities without access to reliable, affordable internet are at a significant disadvantage when it comes to accessing vital services, working or attending school remotely, or simply enjoying entertainment options as a family. Those limitations directly impact community growth, economic development, educational performance, and ultimately, quality of life.
Improving Quality of Life
First Electric decided to respond to the need for high-speed, fiber-optic internet within our rural communities by launching our wholly-owned subsidiary, Connect2First. Even though Connect2First will operate in a different industry from First Electric, our mission is still the same. Connect2First is improving the quality of life in our communities by providing internet and phone service to homes and businesses throughout central and southeast Arkansas.
